We are The Kalos Project
and we’re on a mission to
Reconnect
people with their food.
We've lost our connection to
Food
&
Nature
and its damaging the health of our bodies, minds, and communities.
Our Mission
We aim to create a global network of strong, local, circular economies founded on the production of organic food and agricultural inputs. This will be accomplished by bringing together the world’s greatest innovators in sustainable food production and regenerative agriculture. Our vision is that future generations will have access to high-quality food regardless of their socioeconomic status
"If your plan is for a year, plant rice. If your plan is for a decade, plant trees. If your plan is for a lifetime, educate children."
Raising Our Collective Food Intelligence
Raising the collective food intelligence of our population, especially our children, is vital for the well-being of future generations and the health of our planet. In an age where processed and unhealthy foods are readily available, finding unique and engaging ways to educate people on nutrition, sustainable food choices, and the importance of a balanced diet is essential.
By instilling a strong foundation of food knowledge, we empower our youth to make informed decisions about what they eat, leading to healthier and more conscious food choices. This, in turn, can help combat the growing issues of childhood obesity, chronic diseases, and the environmental impact of the food industry.
We plan to build learning centers where people from all walks of life can come to witness and learn about an array of different regenerative farming practices such aquaponics, hydroponics, vertical farming, soil regeneration, and more. Our goal is not just to educate the people that visit these locations, but to help facilitate meaningful experiences with nature and inspire them to take action in their own communities.
καλός: Pronounced “Kay-lose,” the word originates from ancient Greece. It’s English translation is something like “morally beautiful,” or “the beauty of God.” We thought that this was the perfect word to encapsulate the movement that we take part in: harmonizing humanity and nature through the formation of regenerative local food systems.
Why focus on 15-25 Year Olds?
Empowering youth aged 15-25 to learn about aquaponics and soil regeneration can have profound and transformative benefits for both the youth and the community. These youth may face unique challenges related to food insecurity, limited access to healthy food options, and a lack of opportunities for skill development and employment.
By providing them with an opportunity to learn about sustainable food production practices, they can develop practical skills, build confidence, and feel a sense of purpose and belonging. Engaging these youth in sustainable food production practices can also provide them with a positive outlet for their energy and emotions, promoting mental and emotional well-being.
Moreover, by learning about aquaponics and soil regeneration, these youth can become advocates for sustainable food production within their communities, and promote access to healthy, locally grown produce. They can also become leaders and educators in the field of sustainable food production, creating a more inclusive and equitable environment that benefits everyone.
Empowering youth who are in group homes, state care, or homeless to learn about aquaponics and soil regeneration can promote social and economic mobility, foster community engagement, and create a more sustainable and resilient community.
