Permaculture Design

Revitalizing idle land with natural beauty and purpose.

Imagine...

As you stroll through your neighborhood, instead of the usual sight of landscapers tending to the lawns and curbs, you witness the pure delight and wonder in a young child’s eyes as she plucks a juicy, perfectly ripe peach from one of the trees in the community orchard and bites into it.

Continuing your walk, your senses are further captivated. The air is filled with the alluring scents wafting from the neighborhood herb garden. You softly smile as you see a close friend in the distance, carefully picking some fresh basil for his evening salad. It’s a shared moment of connection, a simple act of harvesting nature’s bounty.

Everywhere you look, the landscape transforms before your eyes. Fruit trees, native plants, flourishing vegetable plots, and fragrant herb gardens surround you. What’s even more remarkable is that all this abundance requires minimal maintenance, nourishing not only the bodies but also the spirits of your community.

Utilizing the power of permaculture design, this vision can become a reality in communities across the globe.

"We believe that nature is infinitely abundant, and that all people deserve ready access to locally produced, nutrient dense food."
-Jonathan Clay (Kalos project co-founder)

We're on a mission

to transform East Texas’ underutilized land into beautiful and functional permaculture landscapes. Think neighborhood greenways, public parks, and commercial properties with large grassy areas.

Using the principles of permaculture, that idle land can be transformed into regenerative ecosystems that not only produce abundant food, but strengthen communities, sequester carbon, regenerate soil, along with a whole host of other benefits.

What is permaculture?

Permaculture is a holistic design philosophy and set of principles that aims to create sustainable, regenerative, and harmonious systems while meeting human needs. Rooted in mimicking natural ecosystems, permaculture focuses on minimizing environmental impact, promoting biodiversity, and optimizing resource use.

Permaculture landscapes offer a multitude of benefits. They are environmentally sustainable, resilient, and reduce resource consumption. By enhancing soil health, managing water efficiently, and reducing the need for synthetic chemicals, permaculture landscapes support healthy ecosystems. They also provide abundant food production, reduce maintenance, and promote energy efficiency.

Beyond the environmental advantages, permaculture landscapes offer beautiful and educational spaces that foster community, food security, and a higher quality of life for those who inhabit and interact with them. In essence, permaculture offers a transformative approach to land use, harmonizing human needs with ecological sustainability.
